About fastest way to san francisco from fresno

Fastest way to san francisco from fresno?
What is the fastest and cheapest way to travel from Fresno to San Francisco on a daily commute basis. I know by car it will take 3 hours to San Francisco and 4 to 5 hours coming back from San Francisco. But I'm looking for alternate way either by commuter shuttles or bus programs from Fresno County. Or daily direct flights from Fresno International to SFO. I know there is direct flights from Aligiant air from Fresno to Vegas, but how about Fresno to SFO? I looked at Amtrak and Greyhound from Fresno to San Francisco but it takes them roughly about 4hours to get there and they leave Fresno at either 6am or 7am arriving 10am or 11am which is extremely late if you have to be at work at 8am or 9am. I know the California High Speed Rail is coming but until then does anyone have any suggestions that can be useful. I also looked at car pooling or carpool programs but the drive time is still the same to and from. Are there any airplane jumpers from Fresno to San Carlos that anyone know? renting is a good idea, but I own property in Fresno so I would be paying mortgage on top of rent. Unless I sold my property but market values of home has dropped or rent my property out which is then I have to become landlord and more responsibilities. I wish there was an entrepenuer person who can facilitate this necessity and possibly provide an economic upflow in transportation service.

Answer 1 :
you are estimating 7 to 8 hours travel time per day. Have you considered renting a motel room on a weekly basis ? The expense alone commuting in addition to wasted time would be good reason to stay in the bay area. In the 80's when gas was not so expensive, I lived in riverside and worked in L.A. county. I found it less costly and less stressful to not commute every day. It's something to consider.
Answer 2 :
There is no easy solution to this problem other than moving closer...About the best remedy would be to drive to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station (5N to 580W, follow signs, check BART web page below) and get on the Daly City train...That will take you all the way through downtown and then you just change trains in Daly City if you want to go to SFO. http://www.bart.gov/index.asp All the best.
Answer 3 :
Uhh, I think you're crazy to even attempt to do this. Rent out your property in Fresno and get a place closer to where you live. Of course you'll lose money doing this, but not nearly as much as you would lose by trying to commute every day, not to mention all the wasted time and wear and tear on your body.
Answer 4 :
this is funny because i use to live in fresno and now i live in sf. you can not jump from san carlos but there are many daily direct flights to sfo from fyi using united. use priceline for the tickets thats what i do. check out wkipedia and type in fesno yosemite international to see what airines fresno uses. the flight takes about an hour. you said san carlos did you mean san francsico

Want to travel from Fresno to Las Vegas on a Charter Flight (small private, tours or small commercial). Is it possible and will it be cheaper? Any detail provided (name, site and so on) greatly appreciated…

Answer 1 :
Allegiant Air flies direct from Fresno to Las Vegas. It's reasonably priced and quite fast, a good jet. I don't know of any charters, but I'm sure there could be some. Allegiant has a website where you can check prices and flight times.

About traveling to Yosemite from Fresno

Traveling to Yosemite from Fresno?
Some of my friends and I are planning a trip from Fresno to Yosemite. We are thinking a day trip would be our better option, but we would love to stay the night. The only problem is we are college students and don't have much money. So I have a few questions: -If you are only there for a day, what are the "must see" things? -Is there anywhere in the park or nearby that we can stay for a reasonable price? -How long does it take to get to the park from Fresno? Thanks!

Answer 1 :
Is has been some time since I made the trip, but the cheapest place to stay would be Fresno. If you drive to Yosemite, take the tram tour through the park. Leave very early in the am and get there as soon as you can. When you leave, drive to the top of Half dome and view the valley floor. It's well worth the extra time. I would pack an ice chest with food for sandwiches and drinks so as to not need to stop and wait for food service. After dark, you can drive back.
Answer 2 :
It takes about an hour and a half to two hours to get to Yosemite Valley from Fresno. You can easily make it a day trip without an overnight stay unless you are caught in a snowstorm. If you can handle some cold, the tents in Curry Village are about $80 a night but can easily be split four or five ways. Plan to leave early in the morning by 6 AM. You should arrive around 8:30 or 9 AM. Park in Curry Village and ride the bus for the day. Most people take about an hour to hike up to Vernal Falls Bridge from Happy Isles. It's a nice hike with a bit of a climb up but it is downhill all the way. It's a better hike in the spring when the falls are full. It's better to ride the bus and do the whole loop, allowing time for stops at each stop. The Mirror Lake road is about as long as Happy Isles but it's a nice hike this time of year and the water should be warmer for swimming. Now is a great time to go bicycle riding in Yosemite - if you have bikes and a bike rack I highly suggest you bring the bikes and a lunch and explore the roads and trails. You get around but can stop at any time to take in a great view. There's a couple of fun things to look for. Under the pedestrian bridge - the second one past Happy Isles, in the pedestrian tunnel is some fun grafitti. On the hiking trail between Mirror Lake and the Ahwahnee (Closer to where the horse trail nears the road to Mirror Lake) check out the natural rock grottoes that used to be called the Indian Caves (before politically correct changed them to "Natural Rock Grottoes") They are fun and are a fairly safe way to climb a few rocks in the process. The Ahwahnee Hotel is beautiful to look at but pricey. It's okay to take a moment to warm your toes by the big fire for a while. As for food, I never liked their pizza but most people do. The Pizza Loft above Degnan's Deli is still reasonably priced without having to travel. Even better are their specialty sandwiches at the deli that are made fresh. Take some time to go to the visitor's center while you are there. Give yourself some time to hike up to Lower Falls even though it's mostly a drip this time of year. It's a seasonal waterfall that is dependent on snowmelt - no snow to melt, no water. But the hike is nice and I wonder if John Muir's stone bench is still there? It will be dark early, so staying the night at Curry Village is cold but you can warm up by the fire in the lounge (a former dance hall) near the office. Cheaper but an hour's drive away is the town of Oakhurst. If you think it will be a better deal try to arrange your room as you drive in instead of on your way out. The Pizza Factory there in Oakhurst is where I get my pizza as it really is as awesome as they claim. The bonus is for the same price as the tent you get your own bath and cable tv. Have fun. Now is a great time of year to visit Yosemite. We'll be going bike riding there next month and ice skating in the winter. P.S. Uhm, Bandit, you can't drive to the top of Half Dome to view the valley floor. There is no paved road up to Half Dome. It's a 16-mile hike round-trip. Hannah, you could drive up to Glacier Point to view both Half Dome and the Valley floor, but it is a 45-minute drive round-trip and it is at 7,000 feet in altitude at it's highest, so be prepared for altitude sickness and bring some water and aspirin or ibuprofen with you.

Answer 1 :
Why do CHEAP and LASIK belong in the same sentence!?! Do yourself a favor. Go to maolneyvision.com read what they have to say about surgeons in your area that they reccomend. Read about what to look for in a laser surgeon. Learn the questions to ask and how to find out if the doctor os good or not. You should always go with the BEST not the CHEAPEST with your eyes. These are not HUBCAPS we are working with. When people come to our office that have had problems from cheap places, we send them to the Maloney institute to be fixed. Dr. Maloney is the best there is and only refers to the best. Do not do any less for yourself. You will be sorry.

About what are some fun things we could do traveling from San Francisco to Monterey and Monterey to Fresno

What are some fun things we could do traveling from San Francisco to Monterey and Monterey to Fresno?
We are going to spend a few days in San Francisco then drive to Monterey and go to the Aquarium. We will then drive back to Fresno. We have never been north of Fresno and are unfamiliar with the area. Is there anything major to do in between San Francisco and Monterey and also between Monterey and Fresno? We will have our two children with us ages 9 and 1. Thanks for any help!

Children's Discovery Museum, San Jose www.cdm.org Marriott's Great America, Santa Clara www.greatamericaparks.com Santa Cruz Mystery Spot www.mysteryspot.com Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk www.beachboardwalk.com Vision Quest Exotic Animal Ranch, Salinas www.visionquestranch.com Cannery Row Imax Theater, Monterey www.bellacinema.com Monterey Pier...you can buy fish and feed the walrus. There isn't much of anything between Monterey and Fresno, though.
Answer 2 :
SF to Monterey is a gorgeous drive down Hwy 1. Highway 1 will become Mission Street at one point as it goes thru Santa Cruz . As you're going thru town there's a bakery on your left (Emilys, 1129 Mission St). If you're there anywhere near breakfast time, stop and get some muffins. The apple muffins are amazing! You might also want to stop at the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz. There are rides for little kids too as well as the bigger amusment park rides, games, and the beach is right there. You'll see an exit for Ocean Street after you've passed by Emily's and it starts to look like freeway again. Just turn there and follow it to the Boardwalk. Doesn't cost anything to walk around & you pay just for whatever rides the kids do. There are lots of restaurants on the wharf right there too. Or, if you like seafood, you might want to stop at Moss Landing (you'll be passing by it anyway about 30 min south of Santa Cruz) & have lunch at Phils Fish Market. It's not expensive, casual dining - great for kids. The aquarium is great - kids will love it and you won't be bored in Monterey. From Monterey to Fresno there's not much to see. I would guess you'll go over Pacheco Pass (Hwy 152) to get over to I5 and go to Fresno. If so, you could stop at Casa de Fruta for some snacks and to let the kids stretch their legs. It's pretty and clean, and a nice place to stop. There's a small train, a little petting zoo, coffee shop, wine shop, and a store with lots of produce, sell gifts, dried fruits, candy, etc. There's not much of anything between there and Fresno!
