Grand canyon and Vegas!
Answer 2 :
Jeff; It really depends on your age and interests, and how much time you have to spend in sightseeing along the way . If you are going from Dallas North up to Interstate 40 through Amarillo, (that's the old "Route 66" across America,) if you have never seen it, don't miss The Grand Canyon. It is a half-day extra to go over from Flagstaff, and back. Some foreign tourists come to America specially for a trip to this natural wonder. You could take an extra day and cut up to Las Vegas. (No further explanation necessary. But whether or not you like to gamble, or see the shows, don't miss the tourist center and guided tour of the Hoover Dam. ) If you are going the southern route, Interstate 20 to Interstate 10, there is plenty to see in Phoenix and Scottsdale.(now the 6th largest city in the US.) Both of these routes eventually converge and meet after you go through the Mojave desert.in Barstow, California, and you go up the valley to Fresno through Bakersfield. Good luck. Have a great trip. !

Technically, yes, you go through the Tehachapi Mountains. However, you don't need to worry. This is not like driving up to Huntington Lake on the old Toll Road. This is I-5: 3-5 lanes of wide, straight freeway. No sharp curves, no cliffs, no trees to run into. Just watch out for the other cars and the trucks, and keep driving. Seriously, NO WORRIES.

About fastest way to san francisco from fresno

Fastest way to san francisco from fresno?
What is the fastest and cheapest way to travel from Fresno to San Francisco on a daily commute basis. I know by car it will take 3 hours to San Francisco and 4 to 5 hours coming back from San Francisco. But I'm looking for alternate way either by commuter shuttles or bus programs from Fresno County. Or daily direct flights from Fresno International to SFO. I know there is direct flights from Aligiant air from Fresno to Vegas, but how about Fresno to SFO? I looked at Amtrak and Greyhound from Fresno to San Francisco but it takes them roughly about 4hours to get there and they leave Fresno at either 6am or 7am arriving 10am or 11am which is extremely late if you have to be at work at 8am or 9am. I know the California High Speed Rail is coming but until then does anyone have any suggestions that can be useful. I also looked at car pooling or carpool programs but the drive time is still the same to and from. Are there any airplane jumpers from Fresno to San Carlos that anyone know? renting is a good idea, but I own property in Fresno so I would be paying mortgage on top of rent. Unless I sold my property but market values of home has dropped or rent my property out which is then I have to become landlord and more responsibilities. I wish there was an entrepenuer person who can facilitate this necessity and possibly provide an economic upflow in transportation service.

Answer 1 :
you are estimating 7 to 8 hours travel time per day. Have you considered renting a motel room on a weekly basis ? The expense alone commuting in addition to wasted time would be good reason to stay in the bay area. In the 80's when gas was not so expensive, I lived in riverside and worked in L.A. county. I found it less costly and less stressful to not commute every day. It's something to consider.
Answer 2 :
There is no easy solution to this problem other than moving closer...About the best remedy would be to drive to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station (5N to 580W, follow signs, check BART web page below) and get on the Daly City train...That will take you all the way through downtown and then you just change trains in Daly City if you want to go to SFO. http://www.bart.gov/index.asp All the best.
Answer 3 :
Uhh, I think you're crazy to even attempt to do this. Rent out your property in Fresno and get a place closer to where you live. Of course you'll lose money doing this, but not nearly as much as you would lose by trying to commute every day, not to mention all the wasted time and wear and tear on your body.
Answer 4 :
this is funny because i use to live in fresno and now i live in sf. you can not jump from san carlos but there are many daily direct flights to sfo from fyi using united. use priceline for the tickets thats what i do. check out wkipedia and type in fesno yosemite international to see what airines fresno uses. the flight takes about an hour. you said san carlos did you mean san francsico

Allegiant Air flies direct from Fresno to Las Vegas. It's reasonably priced and quite fast, a good jet. I don't know of any charters, but I'm sure there could be some. Allegiant has a website where you can check prices and flight times.
